January 7, 2008 Have you gotten used to writing 2008 yet? I had January 2007 for the date here before I did the proofread. Anyway - Bruce, Jim and I debuted the new project at Bishops on Saturday. We had some fun - I'm still getting used to playing my songs on bass while singing them and trying to make sure Bruce and Jim get the changes right. It's all so automatic when I do them solo on guitar, but they're both talented musicians and there were no train wrecks. Just a few interesting endings and some suprisingly smooth harmonies. Of course the bigger challenge is for Bruce and I to get Jim's songs right. Hard for a drummer to cue in the others on chord changes. Luckily his songs feature fairly simple structures and straight forward melodies - and he has a great voice. We'll be back again next Saturday, January 12th. A little more polished and ready to rock. Maybe I should change that picture. That's not a bass in my hands. I'll try and remember the camera this week and post a new full band shot.. |
